Animal shipping

We do not recommend shipping live animals at outdoor temperatures below 10°C or above 30°C, as transport at these temperatures is at the buyer’s risk. To check the current temperature in your region, you can refer to a weather website such as Google Weather. If the delivery time for domestic deliveries is delayed due to factors such as customs or other uncontrollable events and the animals die as a result, the buyer will be responsible for the risk and costs as PAN Terra GmbH cannot control these processes. Please consider this before making a purchase.

We will ship the animals to the address provided by you. Please double-check your information before placing your order. If there are any inaccuracies in your details, please inform us in writing within two days of placing your order, but no later than 24 hours before the scheduled shipping date.

It is the responsibility of the customer to receive the package.

Shipping date

When placing an order, you can request a specific shipping date, which we will make every effort to accommodate. However, please note that as our products are live animals whose development is affected by various factors including weather conditions, the shipping date may need to be adjusted slightly. We will keep you informed of any changes.

You can independently change the shipping date until shortly before your order is dispatched via “My Account” > “Orders” > “Change” > “Edit” > select New Shipping Date > “Update”. Please note that once your order is handed over to the shipping service provider, the shipping date cannot be changed anymore.

Shipping time

We ship our caterpillars with DHL Premium or a shipping service provider located in your country. In general, the shipping time is less than 5 business days. For more specific details regarding shipping times and costs, refer to the table provided below.

We recommend shipping only within Europe and to the mainland. Shipping to islands may result in longer delivery times. Deliveries to islands are at the recipient’s own risk. Shipments are sent from Germany via DHL Premium.

However, please note that we cannot guarantee that the caterpillars will arrive on a specific date. For important events such as birthdays, class visits, or exams, we recommend selecting the shipping date a week earlier to ensure timely arrival of the butterflies.

Saturday Delivery by DHL

Delivery is made exclusively from Monday to Friday in the following countries: Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mainland Spain, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland.

In the following countries, DHL offers Saturday delivery for private individuals. Kindergartens and schools that are closed on Saturdays will receive the shipment on the following Monday. Countries with Saturday delivery: Austria, Bulgaria, Corsica France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Mainland France, Netherlands, Slovenia.

For orders over 99 Euro, we offer free shipping to certain countries. These include Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Mainland Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, the United Kingdom. So, if you order products worth at least 99 Euro, the shipping costs are waived for these destination countries.

Please understand that, due to the Vanessa cardui butterfly’s habitat being in Europe, we exclusively ship our products within the European Union. As the exclusive breeder of this European butterfly, we actively engage in preserving the ecological balance and protecting the environment. Hence, we refrain from conducting deliveries to countries outside the EU. We regret any potential disappointments and emphasize that this measure has been taken in the interest of the environment and for ecological reasons.

Transport damage

If goods are delivered with obvious transport damage, please report such faults to the delivery company as soon as possible and contact us immediately. Failure to report or contact us will not affect your legal rights and remedies, particularly your warranty rights. However, it will assist us in pursuing any claims against the carrier or transport insurance.

The risk of accidental loss or damage shall pass to you as soon as we have delivered the item to the forwarding agent, carrier, or other designated person or institution for shipment. In accordance with §377 of the German Commercial Code (HGB), merchants are obligated to inspect and report any defects. If you fail to do so, the goods will be deemed to have been accepted, unless the defect was not visible during inspection. This does not apply if we have intentionally concealed the defect.
